The Ugly Duckling

The art works are based on the poem "The Ugly Duckling", from poet Luis Llorens Torres. Llorens bases this poem on the story by Hans Cristian Andersen of a swan that puts an egg on a duck's nest. The little swan is different to its duck siblings. And in Llorens' poem their relationship is compared to that of the United States and Puerto Rico. Underlining that the little duckling is neither ugly nor inferior, but different.

The art works use the dry point technique over zinc.  It has an edition of 75 and measures 3 x 3 inches, year 1975.
